Swedish Netball League

As a measure to grow the game of Netball in Sweden, a National Netball league has been launched to facilitate sustainability as well as create a platform for health competition and development of players.

As a requirement, all members of Netball Sweden will be expected to participate in the league.

At the moment we hope to have 7 teams from 5 registered clubs to sign up for the league. The idea is to give all the emerging teams an opportunity to grow and become independent registered clubs with many members under Netball Sweden.

Starting from June 2023 all matches played between different teams will be considered as league matches in the Netball Sweden, Martina Swedish National Netball league.

The league can be played as a one-day event with several teams versing each other or single team games with individual teams visiting or hosting each other to play a league game

The season will run from June to November with the winning team being crowned the champions of the National Netball League.

Registration for new teams to participate in the league remains open. This means that new teams can join the league at any point during the season. However, it is the responsibility of the new teams to make sure that they play games since the team winning many games will be crowned champions.

Though there will be set days for the league, teams can also organize their own matches as long as they register the match with Netball Sweden by sending an email to league@netballsweden.se. In otherwards all games played during the season are counted as league matches.

Note: We shall play on the everyone wins principle.

1. You can only play twice with the same team (Teams are free to play more than 2 matches but only two are counted as league matches)

2. Except on special occasions determined by Netball Sweden, no two games can be played with the same team on the same day shall count as a league game.

3. Every team participating in a league game will earn a participation bonus point =1point

4. Matches played away from your home but within your city will carry an extra bonus point(s). =1

5. Matches played outside your city will carry extra bonus point(s) =2

6. A win in a game will carry =5 points

7. A draw in a game will carry =3 points

8. A loss in a game will carry = 0 Points

For the team’s points to be displayed on the national table standing, the team must have played at least two games with one of the games being an away game within or outside their own city played against a Netball Sweden registered club.

For a team to be in the first, second and third place of the league, they must have played with two Netball Sweden registered club and at least one away game (outside their city) with a Netball Sweden registered club.

Our goal is to have as many teams playing matches as possible and to spread the sport of Netball to different areas of the country.

Prior to fulfilling the requirements to be on the national table standing, teams will continue playing games and their points will be inactive until they fulfil the requirements.

A teams can register and play as Mixed, Male and Female. Rules concerning the league will be displayed in a separate publication. All teams are required to have at least 2 youths of ages (14-18)
